Summit Neurology Services

I am pleased to announce the grand opening of Summit Neurology, a new private neurology practice, in Bellingham on June 3, 2019!    I am excited to offer the following services to patients and their referring providers:

1.    General evaluation and management (E/M) of neurological disorders, including urgent and routine referrals.  If you believe the patient should be evaluated in person within 14 days, I recommend the use of option 2 below, as it allows my personal assistance in triaging care

2.    For providers, telephone/internet inter-professional consultation is a service offered referred patients as well as those not previously referred to Summit Neurology.  It is consultation with chart and imaging review, without the patient present.  Although it is a billed service to insurance beneficiaries, I am happy to extend this option all providers and their patients, regardless of insurance status.  You can request a consult by phone or schedule one via www.summitneurology.org.  Visit the Summit Neurology website for more information, including CPT codes and qualifications for billing.

3.    Stand-alone electrodiagnostic testing including nerve conduction, electromyography, EEG, evoked potentials.

4.    Electrodiagnostic consultation service is combined E/M service + electrodiagnostic testing in a same-day appointment for those patients with suspected neuromuscular disorders.  This so-called allows patients to have their peripheral neurological disorder (such as neuropathy, limb numbness, CTS, radicular complaints, neuromuscular complaints, etc.) evaluated on the same day without waiting for separate appointment availability.  To facilitate this, please select the appropriate referral type on the Summit Neurology referral form.

5.    I am excited to offer referred patients an option to participate in telehealth evaluations new and follow-up patients (contingent on patient consent and agreement to comply with a recommended in-person detailed neurological examinations at the discretion of the consulting neurologist).  This service is beneficial to patients who travel long distances for medical care, have low mobility and/or have frequent neurological follow-up needs.

I think you will find these service options particularly beneficial for you and your referred patients.   Additionally, I have built a schedule with attention to the needs of urgently referred patients by committing dedicated schedule time for that purpose.

I will maintain active admitting privileges at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham for established local patients who may require telephone or direct inpatient consultation for their neurological problem.

If you have any comments or anticipated referral needs, please feel free to contact me to discuss how I can provide assistance.   A referral form is available to providers at www.summitneurology.org in the “providers” section.  You can find updated referral forms and a list of insurers whose patients I am actively accepting.   In brief, I will accept new referrals for those with Medicare, Medicare supplemental, and all regional private insurers.   Referred patients with Medicaid will be considered on a case-by-case basis (please contact me if you have any questions about this).
